This yummy, easy to make homemade face mask recipe is designed to balance, hydrate and cleanse normal and combination skin types.
It's also super-refreshing, and you'll find that it reveals clearer, softer, glowing skin when you're all done with it, especially if you use it in conjunction with other facial recipes like face moisturizers, steams and toners.
Using a facial mask once a week can really help prevent, and even reduce, the signs of aging. Caring for your skin really does make a noticeable difference...
And it doesn't hurt that these aromatherapy face mask recipes support the rest of your body as well, boosting your immune system, relaxing your muscles and soothing your nerves. Gotta love it!
1 tablespoon Cosmetic Clay of your choice (see how to choose below)
1 teaspoon Yogurt
1/2 teaspoon Honey
1/4 teaspoon Jojoba oil
1 drop Lavender essential oil
1 drop Geranium, Neroli OR Ylang Ylang essential oil
1.
Whisk together all the ingredients except the clay in a small bowl.
2.
Slowly add the clay a little at a time, stirring thoroughly to create a spreadable paste. (If you add it all at once you get lumps, which are annoying when you go to spread it on your face.)
If the mixture seems too thick, add a little more yogurt or a splash of milk. Do not increase the oil, because the mask will slide right off your face.
3.
Cleanse your face and leave it damp, then smooth the homemade face mask over your face and neck, avoiding your eyes and mouth.
4.
Leave it on your face for 15 to 20 minutes (Relax! Lying down is good.)
5.
Wash the homemade facial mask off using a warm, wet washcloth. Follow with toner and face moisturizer.
This recipe makes enough for one facial application, and it does not keep, so slather it on and let it work its magic.
Make Ahead: This recipe is pretty much one you have to make and use (yogurt doesn't store well) but you can pre-mix the clay and essential oils and store them in a dark glass or PET plastic jar. Click here to see some nice glass jars from Mountain Rose Herbs. |
Replace the yogurt with milk, which removes dead skin cells and softens skin. The higher the fat content of both the yogurt and the milk, the more nourishing it is for you skin. Low fat is NOT your best bet here! |

I've recommended Mountain Rose as my favorite supplier since starting
out on this journey. I always research suppliers for quality, ethics,
price and selection, and they're great on all fronts. So I feel good
about offering their products to you.
Having said that, I have to share another supplier for essential oils
that I personally now use because I've found their quality to be the
best. I switched to doTerra after buying a few oils like lavender and
tea tree and comparing them in my recipes.
What I found was that they worked faster and more effectively than
any other brand I've tried. So I want to offer their oils to you as
well. It's always good to have options, don't you think?
Here's how I see it...
Buy from Mountain Rose when you're watching your budget. Also for base ingredients like cosmetic clay and carrier oils. |
Buy from doTerra when quality is your most important factor. You can shop retail by clicking the Shop button at the top. Or click Join & Save to become a wholesale customer and get 25% discount. Message me to learn more about the perks of going wholesale. |
Buy from Amazon if you love variety. You can always find deals, and you'll never run out of options. Just remember that if you pay a low price you're going to get a low quality, especially in the land of essential oils. This is an area where you need to buy the best you can afford, trust me. |
