Witch hazel safe on color treated hair?

Q: Does witch hazel strip color treated hair?

A: The short answer is: I don't know for sure. I did some research and couldn't find a definitive answer.

Having said that, I think it might fade your color if you use it frequently at full strength, but it looks like it would be okay if you use it diluted. I think.

The research I did suggested that beer is a more gentle, healthy choice for clarifying hair. Here's how to use beer as a hair treatment:

Stir 3 tablespoons of flat beer into half a cup of warm water. After shampooing, rub in the water & beer mixure, leave in for a couple of minutes, then rinse. Condition as normal.

There are also some good clarifying shampoos for color treated hair that won't strip out the color while getting rid of product build-up. I read some good reviews for a brand called Pureology.

Anyone else have suggestions?
