Will this simple Olive oil recipe be safe? Did I add too much or not enough essential oil?

by Mel

Though I've found several great recipes on this site as well as other sites on the net, I am working with a limited supply of oils to kick off my natural hair care journey!

I have added 15 drops of peppermint oil and 15 drops of rosemary oil to 3/4 cups of olive oil. Is this an appropriate mix, or did I add too much essential oil? Too little?

I am basically trying to fill a 150 ml bottle, so that I have it as a pre-made hair moisturizer/conditioner.

Also, when I use this rosemary/peppermint/olive oil combo as a moisturizer, is is necessary to wash it out each time? Or can I use this in the hair without rinsing twice weekly?

Thank you for your help!

Olive Oil Hair Recipe
by: Kyley

Hi Mel,

Your recipe looks good. You might reduce the essential oils to 10 drops each - they're pretty strong. They're also some of the best essential oils for hair, so you picked some good ones!

I find that leaving oil in my hair leaves it limp and greasy looking. In fact, after I use an oil treatment like your recipe, I actually have to wash my hair twice to get all the oil out. That said, I have mediumly-fine, straight hair. You'll probably have to experiment.

Sometimes when I'm having frizz issues I rub the tiniest bit of oil over the ends of my hair to control frizz. Anything more and it looks like I haven't washed my hair in weeks!

Hope that helps!
