by Anne

My candles smell really faint, and I'm wondering if my essential oils are too weak. What are the best essential oils to get the strongest scent?

I also had the same problem, no smell when i lit my candles, i then used 7% of essential oils to my candle which was 240 drops using a 7cm x 7 cm glass container which i know is alot and can be expensive but it gave a lovely smell when lit, i used cinnamon, clove and orange a good christmas one. Hope this is of help to anyone having the same problems.

Great Question!

Thanks for asking!

The thicker essential oils like benzoin, patchouli and vetiver are good choices for candles because of their lingering scent. In fact, they're often used as fixatives in potpourri.

Some other good, strong essential oils for candles are palmarosa, ylang ylang, geranium and lemongrass.

Also, remember to look for a soy wax that can take a high concentration of fragrance, then add the maximum amount.

Good luck!

(And if you come up with any successful blends, please drop back in and let us know!)
