For a school project I need to make Vanilla and Honey Lotion. I can't seem to find any good recipes online though. I need some help finding a good recipe.

Honey Vanilla Lotion Recipe

Hi Gracie,

I would recommend using a basic lotion recipe (follows) and modifying it to include vanilla and honey...

Ingredients

1 to 2 tablespoons (3 to 8g) Emulsifying wax
(depending on how thick you want it)
1/3 cup (75ml) Jojoba or Apricot Kernel oil
1 tablespoon (15ml) Honey
1/2 cup (125ml) distilled Water
1 teaspoon (5ml) Vitamin E
10 drops Grapefruit Seed extract
10 drops vanilla absolute essential oil

You could try replacing the vanilla essential oil with a tablespoon of pure vanilla extract, but I'm pretty sure you won't get much of a vanilla scent, and vanilla extract has alcohol in it, so you're adding alcohol to your lotion (ugh!)

Directions

Stir together the oil, emulsifying wax and honey in the top part of a double boiler, warming slowly over a low heat until the wax is melted. Remove from heat and pour in the Vitamin E.

In a separate pot on the stove or in the microwave, gently warm the water just until lukewarm. Do NOT skip this step - your moisturizer will separate later if the water is too cold.

Slowly pour the water (and vanilla extract if using) into the oil, stirring constantly with a wire whisk until the mixture is thick and smooth.

Stir in the vanilla oil and the grapefruit seed extract. Pour the lotion into a clean, sterilized 8oz (250ml) dark glass or PET plastic bottle and allow it to cool before putting the lid on.

Shake the bottle occasionally as the lotion cools to prevent the ingredients from separating. Store in a cool, dark place.

Makes approximately 8oz (250ml) lotion.
