Substitute for Helichrysum

by Raven
(Canada)

Hi everyone,

I found a recipe I'd like to try for strained muscles and back pain:

6 drops lavender
1 drop eucalyptus
2 drops peppermint
1 drop helichrysum
1oz carrier oil of choice

It sounds good, and I do have a lot of lower back/tailbone pain. I have everything I need to make this except for helichrysum. I went to order some, and nearly died at the price. Way, WAY out of my budget everywhere I looked. Yikes!

Is there another oil that would work in this blend that won't break my piggy bank??

I actually do have some clary sage on hand, so that's great! So I could just use that in the recipe instead of the helichrysum? That's awesome news. I really wanted to try it out but couldn't believe the cost.

Thanks so much for the info! This place is amazing!!

Pain Relief EOs
by: Kyley

Hi Raven,

That sounds like a great recipe. Here's a list of essential oils good for pain relief:

Muscle Pain and stiffness:
basil, cedarwood, chamomile, clary sage, coriander, cypress, eucalyptus, ginger, jasmine, juniper, lavender, marjoram, palmarosa, pepper, peppermint, rose, rosemary, vetiver

Joint Pain:
basil, cedarwood, chamomile, clary sage, coriander, eucalyptus, frankincense, geranium, ginger, jasmine, juniper, lavender, lemongrass, marjoram, palmarosa, pepper, peppermint, pine, rose, rosemary, vetiver

You'll notice there's a few overlaps, so you might pick one of those - perhaps cedarwood, ginger or pepper. They're affordable and effective.

Best of luck, and I hope your back pain gets better :)
