Storing Homemade Acne Remedies

by Londen

I found GREAT recipes here for my oily acne prone skin! I'm excited to start using everything! My question is, do I have to store any of it in the refrigerator? The lotions or astringents??? Thanks!

Storing Homemade Acne Recipes NEW

Hi Londen,

I'm glad you're liking the recipes - they work really well on me and my son.

I don't store mine in the fridge, I just keep them in the bathroom. I make small batches, and I never leave out or reduce the grapefruit seed extract in any recipe that calls for it (it's a broad-spectrum bacteriacide) and everything is fine.

My mom reduces the amount of grapefruit seed in her lotion recipes, and she gave me some and it went moldy within a couple of weeks. Ugh!

Just don't make huge batches and all will be well. It's kind of a pain to be running down to the fridge every time you want to wash your face :)

If you have any more questions, don't be afraid to post. Good luck!
