Shelf life of homemade products.

What about shelf life of products? is there any natural preservative to use in homemade products? Sometimes when people receive a gift of homemade Milk Bath, for instance, they don't use it immediately.

shelf life of homemade products
by: gill

Vitamin E oil is a natural perservative, I always add 1 teaspoon which is about 5ml to any of my homemade products.

I also use Grapefruit Seed Extract and my dosage is between 15/20 drops of this to any of my finished products, this is the last ingredient to go into my products before adding my essentail oils.

I make up a basic batch and leave the essential oils out I then put into a container and refridgerate, I have still got products in my fridge from April, and is still ok. When I need some of the product I take it out of the container then put into a seperate container and add the essential oils, again I tend to use this within 2/3 months, as a little goes a long way.

Hope this helps.
