Ingredients

1/2 cup Rose petals

1/2 cup Lavender flowers

1/4 cup Green Tea leaves (try a rose-flavored tea)

3 drops Rose or Palmarosa essential oil

3 drops Lavender essential oil

1 drop Rosewood essential oil

Method

Combine the rose petals, lavender flowers and tea leaves in a dark glass or PET plastic jar.

Drop in the essential oils, placing each drop in its own little spot on top of the mixture. Use a stainless steel spoon to gently stir everything together.

Cap the jar and let it sit for at least 24 hours before using to let the aroma 'cure' (longer is better.)

To Use your Aromatherapy Herbal Rose Blend

lavender aromatherapy sachet To use the aromatherapy herbal bath mixture, scoop a few spoonfuls into a small organza or muslin drawstring bag. Fill about half full - it will expand in the water.

If you don't have a bag, put a few spoonfuls into the center of a square of double thickness cheesecloth, pull the edges together and tie it closed with a string.

To get the most benefit from your herbal aromatherapy bath, boil a kettle of water, then steep the bag in a bowl of very hot water for 10 minutes or so. (Yes, you're making herbal tea for your bath!)

Pour the 'tea' into your bathwater BEFORE YOU GET IN then check the temperature to make sure the bath water is not too hot. Drop the herbal bag in the water, slide in and relax for 20 minutes.

For a truly luxurious bath, add a tablespoon of your favorite rose or lavender bath oil to extra-moisturize your skin.

Dry off without rinsing, and lock in moisture with a good body lotion, such as this Lavender Lotion recipe.

Where to Get Stuff

Mountian Rose Herbs is an excellent supplier. You can get some really good rose petals and lavender flowers, as well as any essential oils you might need.

I recommend Mountain Rose's Jasmine Green Tea for this recipe - it's delicate, smells wonderful, AND it's fabulous for your skin. Sip a cup while you're making this aromatherapy bath recipe!

They also have some really nice glass jars for storing your herbal and aromatherapy cosmetic recipes. (Just remember to use them up quickly if you choose clear glass - they're light sensitive.)
