Nut Free Aromatherapy Carrier Oils

by kerry
(connecticut, usa)

Q:I'm allergic to almonds and all nuts, literally. Is there another essential oil I can use instead of almond oil?

A: There`s actually lots of oils you can use instead of almond oil. Just to clarify, almond oil is an aromatherapy carrier oil as oppposed to an essential oil.

Essential oils are generally steam distilled from plants to create "concentrates" of the plant. Good essential oils are actually non-greasy - if they feel greasy, they've likley been diluted with a carrier oil.

Carrier oils are often cold-pressed from plants or nuts like almonds or olives. They're often used in aromatherapy to dilute or "carry" an essential oil to the skin.

Some good carrier oil choices for you include Apricot Kernel, Grapeseed, Jojoba and Sunflower oil. Click to learn more about aromatherapy carrier oils.
