Body Butter Recipe for Eczema
by: Kyley

Hi Bonnie,

I was referring to the body butter recipe linked right above the comment you referenced. Here's the link again:

As you'll see when you go to that page, body butter is quite different from lotion because it has no water in it and it forms a much more solid product.

Hope that clears it up!

Either of the essential oil blends in that recipe is great for eczema. I'd say the body butter is actually a stronger eczema fighter than the lotion, but you could make both - lotion for any time of day and the body butter for after a bath or shower to lock in moisture.

How do you make the Body Butter?
Would it be by just increasing the amount of emulsifying wax?

Eczema Lotion Recipe

Hi Bonnie,

Thanks for your question. The lavender lotion recipe would be the best choice for your friend's son.

I would suggest using the Lavender Rose essential oil blend, but substitute 5 drops of Benzoin or Patchouli for the Rosewood.

I would also suggest using Sweet Almond oil as your main carrier oil and substituting 2 tablespoons Evening Primrose, Rosehip or Sea Buckthorn oil to really power it up. Here's a link to the carrier oils page so you can see why I chose them.

My niece has eczema, and I made her a body butter lotion bar for the colder weather. It's super nourishing and creates a moisture barrier so the skin stays protected. It's working really well for her. Here's the recipe.

Hope that helps! Please let us know if the recipes help his skin - I'd love to post the results.
