Natural Hair Dye for Gray Roots

by susan
(Dallas Tx, collin county)

I am 50 years old and have all gray hair. I have been coloring it in a salon every 3 weeks! I am thinning in the front of my head and am afraid to lose all my hair if I continue. I cannot have gray hair for many reasons so I MUST color my hair. What is the best way to switch to all natural hair care? Help PLEASE!

Susbstitute for Saffron
by: Kyley

Hi Christian,

I don't know of any substitute that will work as well as the saffron. You can try lemon juice rinses if they don't dry her hair out too much, and lots and lots of chamomile tea rinses. That's all I can think of really...

Hope that helps!

Dying Grey Roots
by: Kyley

Hi Susan,

I'd say your best bet is to try the natural hair dye recipes on the natural hair dye page.

If your hair is dark, use the sage recipe, if it's blonde, use the saffron. You could use those until your chemically dyed hair grows out and is cut off and then switch to using henna.

Good luck!
