MRCP II MADE EASY

MRCP II MADE EASY is an excellent book on the science of Aromatherapy. It is authored by a Harvard trained physician who is also a Member of the Royal College of Physicians London (MRCP) and was trained at the Hale clinic.

He described the stimulation of the rhinencephalon as the trigger which activates the release of hormones, peptides and chemicals which leads to a cure as an evolutionary defense system.

This predates Hippocrates and was used by the Arabs to lead to to the seminal discovery of a famed drug for asthma.

He also describes the human body as the largest pharmaceutical factory which can synthesize any drug (biological) to defend itself. This fact was known during the Tang dynasty and even by primitive men, which allowed survival.

In fact, it is the aroma of plants which allows wounded animals to seek out plants that may cure them. This is why we sometimes see our pets eating strange plants or grass, as the chemicals in them are curative.

Obviously, the large multinational companies know this, but there is no profit to be made from asking someone to smell a rose or jasmine.

Every aromatherapist worth his or her salt should read this book, as it is a well written novel in the style of Michael Crichton, Robin Cook and Isaac Asimov detailing the history of our place in the world oz medicine. The author argues that this skill is now marginalized.

I was impressed that he described Gestalt and the FMRI long before the movie SALT.

It is written for the layman and professionals like us, and there are many tips and knowledge base which will improve our practice. He interweaves (case histories) tales with interesting medical facts, and the learning is subliminal. Some of the stories may make you cry and others may make you laugh.

My husband and 2 kids love it, as each case is like a series from House MD (without the Vicodin or the breaking and entering.) Anyhow, it is time someone from the established Medical field write a tome which documents the truism behind the science of aromatherapy.

This science, which is endorsed by the Prince of Wales under alternative medicine, is no longer the field of charlatans, and we should begin to standardize and begin our own guild.

It is a difficult book to put down and I read it all in a single night. I hope to see more such open minded discussion of Aromatherapy from such a distinguished author.

This is the beginning of the Renaissance of the Art and Science of Aromatherapy which will develop into Medical Schools with accreditations and internship programs alongside allopathic Medicine.
