Making Soy Candles -- How to Get Rid of Craters

After making my batch of soy candles and allowing to cool I was left with what I call small craters at the top of my candles. What tips do you have to prevent these craters?

Getting rid of craters NEW

I use a hairdryer with a diffuser attatchment, the top surface of the wax melts and fills the crater.

Using a Heat Gun on Candle Craters NEW

Heating gun NEW

I found that using a heat gun to melt the top layer is working great. Thanx for the tips. Heat gun smooths it right out nicely and I don't have to melt more wax or worry about over pouring over my wax line.

Getting Rid of Craters NEW

Hi Dionne,

Craters in candles is pretty normal, and it's really easy to fix.

You just melt a little more wax and pour it into the craters. Just don't let the new wax go over the original wax line or the new layer will show.
