Making and Selling Your Own Oils, Salts, Soaps, etc,

my question is--
hi i am new and i love mixing my own oils, salts... for family and friends. a relative has opened her own shop and asked me to bottle my oils, salts... and sell them. how can i legally sell a skin application? do i need a certificate in aromatherapy? do i need insurance? how do i start my own local retail?

This is a good point you bring up, Stephanie. Each country has its regulations regarding ingredients and labeling. For instance, in Canada, you have to not only list every ingredient, but you have yo label everything in both French and English. Makes packaging tricky.

I know some hobbyists who sell their products in their neighborhood ignore the labeling laws, and they get away with it because they're too small to be important enough for the government to go after.

So my advice is to educate yourself - thanks for the link, Stephanie - and make up your own mind.

Starting a business

I have been wanting to do the same thing and have started collecting some of the ingredients, but I have been reading about a new law that requires each and every indgredient to be tested and certified. Here is a link to some information about it. I am all for having safe ingredients, but this new legislation seems to make it impossible for anyone but the huge corporations to produce and sell personal care products.
