Not to mention the side benefits of lifting your mood, calming your nerves and strengthening your immune system - all thanks to the healing effects of essential oils.

Sandalwood n' Spice Lotion Recipe

Lotion Quick Trick

Get a really good unscented body lotion.

Add 10 to 30 drops of your favorite essential oil or essential oil blend for every 8oz (250ml) of lotion. Some of my favorites are:

aromatherapy recipes Relaxing Woodsy: 16 drops Sandalwood, 8 drops Lavender, 6 drops Cedar

Relaxing Floral: 14 drops Frankincense, 10 drops Lavender, 6 drops Rosewood

To Die For Chocolate: 30 drops Cocoa Absolute (This one doesn't need anything else!)

Why Make Your Own Homemade Lotion Recipes?

There's so much junk in most commercial skincare products. The great thing about making your own aromatherapy lotion is that you decide exactly what goes into it.

And you can easily create your own formulations to support your specific skin type or skin problem (such as eczema or acne) by customizing your blend of carrier oils, essential oils and other ingredients.

For example, vegetable glycerin is good for dry skin because it's a humectant (attracts moisture.) And witch hazel is good for oily skin because it helps reduce oil production. Click here for a good supplier.

Did you know...

About 60 percent of what you rub onto your skin is absorbed into your body?

Try making your own lotion using the aromatherapy recipes below - it's a lot of fun, fairly simple and very rewarding. After you make your first batch, I bet you'll never go back to store lotions again!
