Lotion Recipe for Extremely Dry Skin

My skin is so dry that I feel it crack. When it does it itches and then it becomes powdery and flaky. I tried bath oils but they don't work for the duration. Just for they day. Can you provide a recipe for a cream and bath oil that can help me with this problem? Thank you.

Super Dry Skin Recipes NEW

Hi there,

Your skin sounds really dry - ouch!

The first thing I would recommend, even before aromatherapy creams and oils, is that you buy some Flaxseed oil or Fish oil capsules - sounds like your body needs Omega 3-6-9 oils. Go to your local health food store and ask them to help you. Their advice is free!

For skin cream, here's my first thought. Use the following body butter recipe to make a deeply penetrating, protective moisturizer...

Use the Lavender Spice essential oil blend for the strongest skin-healing benefits. For best results, don't dry off completely after your morning shower - just kind of pat away a bit of the water. Then rub the body butter into your damp skin to lock in the moisture.

Use it again on dry skin before you go to bed - you'll be a bit greasy, but your skin will be happier. Plus you can use it any time during the day whenever you start to get that dry, tight feeling.

For a body oil recipe, try this...

1/4 cup sweet almond or jojoba oil
1/4 cup kukui nut oil
1 teaspoon avocado, borage, rosehip or sea buckthorn oil
10 drops Lavender essential oil
5 drops Carrot Seed essential oil
5 drops Patchouli essential oil
5 drops Sandalwood essential oil
3 drops Jasmine or Rose essential oil

You can do the same thing - apply to damp skin - for best results.

I hope these recipes help you cope with your dry skin. I definitely think it could be an internal imbalance, though, because your skin is your largest organ, and dietary problems often show up on your skin. Eat more healthy fats!!!! You don't hear that every day :)

Good luck!
