Does apple cider vinegar strip the color off my color treated hair?
I recently made an apple cider vinegar toner/hair rinse. The ingredients are natural herbs soaked for 6 weeks in organic apple cider vinegar. How often should I use it as a rinse on my hair?A:
Hmmm... Good question! I looked it up, and you're right - apparently vinegar can strip the hair dye out of colored hair because the acetic acid in the vinegar is a strong clarifier.
I personally haven't noticed a major difference - my color fades anyways between colorings so I don't worry about it.
You could try diluting your rinse with water so it's a little more gentle if you want. It sounds like a great hair rinse! I would think using it once a week would be enough - maybe twice a week if your hair tends to be greasy.
Good luck :)
