How to Use Aromatherapy Carrier Oils

by Raven
(Canada)

I'm completely and totally new to aromatherapy, and while I'm totally excited, I'm also a little nervous. I've been doing lots of reading, finding out some great information ... but one question keeps bothering me.

If I make a blend with a carrier oil (so I can apply it to my skin) can I also diffuse it in the air? Or does the carrier oil mean it's only for the skin?

Thanks!

I'm looking forward to trying this - hoping to get a new diffuser soon. :)

Using Your Diffuser
by: Kyley

Hi Raven,

For your diffuser, just fill up the bowl with water and add the 8 drops. The water is so the heat from the candle doesn't cook the oils. So you don't have to measure, just make sure it doesn't burn dry.

Thanks!

How much water? Per 8 drops, for example - how much water would I put in??

When using essential oils on the body or face, you need to dilute with a carrier oil, this is because they can easily burn or irriate you, it also helps the essential oils get into your system a lot more easier, the same applies if using essential oils in the bath.

In relation to do you need a carrier oil in a diffuser with the essential oils the answer is no. Mix it with water and upto 8 drops of your choosen essential oil, this will work perfectly.

Hope this helps
