Homemade Floor Cleaner for the Hoover Floor Mate

I use the Hoover Floor Mate to clean my floors and I'm looking to find a cleaner I can use in the floor mate that is non-toxic. Is there any aromatherapy mixers that can go in my machine? Thanks for your help.

Hi Lisa,

I'd say a combination of water, vinegar and essential oils is your best choice - it's what I'd use.

I'm not sure how big the cleaning solution canister is, but you want a ratio of about 4 cups water to 1/4 cup vinegar and anywhere from 10 to 30 drops of essential oil depending on how strong you want it.

I'd mix up a big batch and store it, then use it to refill the machine whenever the cleaning solution level got low - less work, and it won't go bad! My sister, on the other hand, would simply throw in some water, splash in a bit of vinegar and drop in 5 or 10 drops of essential oil right whenever it was empty. Depends on your style!
