An easy, good-for-you facial cleanser recipe... an excellent natural skin cleanser for normal and combination skin

Treat your face to this simple, soothing homemade face cleanser.

This gentle but effective facial cleanser recipe can be used on most skin types, although it's particularly good for normal and combination skin.

Rose Water gently cleanses, renews and moisturizes, while vegetable glycerin softens your skin. Lavender and Rose Geranium essential oils help maintain the proper balance of oil production (and smell wonderful!)

Don't be fooled into thinking you need a lot of ingredients to make a really good facial cleanser. A few very effective natural ingredients will do the job that 50 fillers, chemicals and other synthetic ingredients promise (and sometimes fail) to do. Without stripping or irritating your skin. Yay!

Homemade Face Cleanser Recipe

Recipes for Other Skin Types

Dry/Mature: Facial Cleanser Cream

Oily: Skin Balancing Cleanser

Sensitive: Olive Oil Facial Cleanser

Acne: Tea Tree Oil Facial Wash

Ingredients

1/3 cup (90ml) Lavender OR Rose hydrosol (rose water)
1/3 cup (90ml) Rose Geranium hydrosol
1 tablespoon (15ml) Vegetable Glycerin
8 drops Lavender essential oil
1 drop Rose Geranium essential oil
1 drop Ylang Ylang essential oil

Directions

Pour all the ingredients into a clean, sterile 8oz (250ml) dark glass or PET plastic bottle.

Shake well. Let cure at least 24 hours before using.

To use, dampen your skin with warm water, then gently massage the homemade face cleanser into your skin. Rinse, pat dry and moisturize.

Customizing Your Homemade Face Cleanser

Add 1 tablespoon pure Aloe Vera gel. Do NOT buy aloe from a pharmacy. Go to Mountain Rose Herbs online or to a health food store. The stuff you get at a drugstore is adulterated with alcohol and preservatives.

Aloe is super for feeding skin with vitamins, minerals and enzymes, soothing redness and dealing with sun damage. Also good for aging skin and acne.

Replace some or all of the hydrosols with other floral waters such as calendula, chamomile, helichrysum or sandalwood.

For an earthier, less sweet scent, replace the ylang ylang with 1 drop of sandalwood essential oil.
