Homemade Acne Mask Recipe
Simple face mask recipes to deep clean and balance oily, acne-prone skin
Oily, acne-prone skin needs extra attention, especially when it comes to keeping it clean.
A weekly homemade acne face mask treatment is an ideal way to give your face the care it needs.
Clay homemade acne masks deep clean the skin, unclogging pores and drawing out excess oil, dirt and grime.
Lavender and tea tree provide additional cleansing action, eliminating bacteria that contribute to acne.

Homemade Acne Mask Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 teaspoons Cosmetic Clay of your choice
- 3 - 4 teaspoons low fat Yogurt OR strong Herbal Tea
- 2 drops Lavender essential oil
- 1 drop Tea Tree essential oil
Directions
- Combine all the ingredients in a small bowl, stirring in enough yogurt or tea to create a spreadable paste.
- Cleanse your face and leave it damp, then smooth the homemade acne mask over your face and neck, avoiding your eyes and mouth.
- Leave it to dry for about 15 to 20 minutes (Relax! Lying down is good.)
- Wash the acne homemade mask off using a warm, wet washcloth.
- Follow with an astringent toner and a
moisturizer or
acne treatment oil.
Customizing Your Homemade Acne Mask
Replace the yogurt with milk, which removes dead skin cells and softens skin.
(By the way, yogurt contains lactic acid, which tightens and softens skin.)
Use peppermint tea or any citrus tea to tone skin, and chamomile tea to calm irritation.
Green tea adds anitoxidants.
If you use peppermint tea, you could replace the tea tree with peppermint essential oil - zingy!
You can also replace one drop of the lavender with one drop of any citrus essential oil -
but you don't want to use citrus oils if you'll be exposing your skin to sunlight, since they're photo-toxic and you could get sunburned.
