Happy Aromatherapy Massage Oil Recipe

Sweet citrus aromatherapy for depression

When you're down in the dumps, cheer yourself up with this sweetly scented aromatherapy massage oil recipe.

This blend melts away tension and lifts your mood with a happy combination of ylang ylang and citrus essential oils.

These anti-depressant, stress-relieving essential oils, combined with gentle massage, make this massage recipe an excellent choice when using aromatherapy for depression.

Ingredients

citrus aromatherapy for depression 15 drops Bergamot essential oil

15 drops Palmarosa essential oil

2 drops Ylang Ylang essential oil

4 tablespoons (60ml) carrier oil of your choice such as apricot kernel oil, jojoba oil or sunflower oil

Method

Combine all ingredients in a dark glass or PET plastic bottle. (I recommend using one with an oil or lotion dispenser cap so you don't accidentally pour it all over everything with the joy of getting a massage.)

Wait at least 24 hours after blending to let the aromas 'cure'. Remember to keep the bottle in a cool, dark place. Use within three months.

If you want to make a larger amount of this aromatherapy massage oil blend, depending on the size of the bottle, simply double or triple the recipe. (Remember it tends to go rancid after about three months.)

Caution

Bergamot essential oil can cause photo-sensitivity and sunburn.

Do not use before sun exposure.

Where to Get Stuff

You can find a good selection of basic ingredients such as carrier oils from Mountain Rose Herbs, as well as any essential oils you might need.

They also have some great glass bottles for storing your aromatherapy recipes. (Just remember to use them up quickly if you choose clear glass - essential oils are light sensitive.)
