by Denise Frank

What's the best hair dye for gray hair? I have an allergy to colorants. Thank you.

Henna and Grey Hair NEW
by: Anonymous

I have found, in the past, that I have really "resistant grey" and henna could not really cover it. I opted, when I became almost all grey (75% from a dark brunette) to use a commercial dye and go blond. Done with this and will try the rosemary/sage recipe. Query, though: what color does this actually head toward? It doesn't specify on the recipe page.

ALMOST ALL HAIR DYES HAVE PPD IN IT. I FOUND THAT BIGEN SEMI PERMANENT DOES'T HAVE. IT'S VERY IMPORTANT TO KNOW. YOU CAN BUY IT AT ANY HAIR SUPPLY STORE :)

HAIR DYE ALLERGY NEW
by: Anonymous

I DECIDED TO GO BACK TO MY "OLD" HAIR DYE, WHICH IS "NATURAL INSTINCTS" AMONNIA FREE, CLAIROL, BLACK. REDS AND YELLOWS ARE MORE ALLERGIC. DID A TEST LAST SATURDAY AND NO ALLERGY SO FAR. FINGERS CROSSED. :)

HENNA GAVE ME THE BIGGEST RASH EVER!!!IT HAS METAL IN IT!!!

Using Henna NEW
by: Shucky

First off, find an East Indian grocery store; they usually have hennas. If you get the golden blonde (which is more like a chestnut), mix it with natural neutral henna available at the health food store (much more expensive). Then mix the two. Use very hot water and a paint brush; it should be the consistency of spinach pudding when it's ready to apply. If you want, add a bit of cornstarch to it, then paint it on. Put on a shower cap and let it sit for 30 minutes before washing it out.

Put an old pillow case on your pillow for the first couple of nights.

I find this works marvelously well.

Hair Dye Recipes for Grey Hair NEW

Henna is an excellent non-chemical alternative. My sister-in-law uses it, and she has fabulous, shiny, healthy thick hair. Here's a link for finding henna online, and you may be able to find it in your local health food store.
