VALERIAN ROOT ESSENTIAL OIL OR PILL FORM (Approx. 100mg/night needed for moderate to severe insomnia)- It's a natural herb derived from the root of the valerian plant. Valerian has been used for centuries to induce relaxation and sleep in a natural fashion. Valerian Root helps relax the central nervous system, has antispasmodic and sedative like properties. It is emotionally grounding and calming, helps relieve stress, trauma, insomnia and anxiety.

Melatonin- (Take 1mg-5mg 1 hour before bedtime, start with 1mg and increase as needed)- This naturally occurring compound is found in humans, animals, plants, and microbes. Natural Melatonin production in the brain starts when the sun goes down and stops when the sun comes up. Melatonin levels are normally highest between 2am-4am (declines as a person ages). Taking Melatonin is proven to help relieve primary sleep disorders, secondary sleep disorders, seasonal affective depression (usually winter time), sleep restriction, and is also an antioxidant, cancer protective agent, skin protective agent, and contraceptive (may inhibit ovulation in women, high doses taken by men may decrease sperm mobility and sex drive).

Lavender Oil- Lavender is another gentle type of oil that would work best in treating insomnia, especially for those triggered by psychological cause. The tonic properties from the lavender oil makes a gentle but strong tonic for your nervous system that allow your nerves to settle and remain calm.

Passion Flower Oil- This important oil is used in treating insomnia caused by overwork, excessive mental worries, and (nervous exhaustion). The Passion Flower Oil is used as an ingredient for several sedative preparations being marketed. This too is gentle enough to use for children.

Chamomile Oil- This is especially most effective for mild cases of insomnia. This particular oil contains sedative properties that help put your body in an extremely relaxed state. In fact, it is gentle enough to be approved for use on children and yet very effective. Add around 5 to 6 drops of chamomile essential oil to your bath water to soothe your nerves and induce sleep.

ADD A FEW DROPS OF PASSION FRUIT, LAVENDER, & CHAMOMILE TO A HOT BATH. USE A WARM COMPRESS WITH THESE OILS ON YOUR FACE AND FOREHEAD BEFORE FALLING ASLEEP.
