How Do Essential Oils for Acne Work?

Aromatherapy acne recipes actually do work. Essential oils are excellent cleansers and skin healers. Here's why:

  • They have anti-bacterial properties that help get rid of acne-spreading germs.
  • They calm irritation and redness caused by acne.
  • They help balance your skin's oil production, reducing excess oiliness.
  • They speed your skin's healing both during and after an outbreak.

How Long Before I See Results?

It takes 3 to 4 weeks for your skin to renew itself. You have to use essential oils for acne consistently, and you'll see results over time. As with so many things in life, there's no instant cure for acne (anyone who says there is, is selling something!)

I get acne every month due to hormone changes, and my teenage son is continually battling acne as he grows. All the essential oils and skin care recipes for acne offered here have been tried and tested on both of us. And they DO work!

Blemish-Clearing Quick Trick

There are two essential oils for acne that you can apply directly to your skin to spot treat pimples and blemishes: Tea Tree and Lavender.

After you wash your face at night (critical for fighting acne) put a drop of either lavender OR tea tree on a Q-Tip and dab gently on the pimple. Do this every night until it clears up.

Caution: be careful when applying undiluted essential oils to the skin - sometimes it may cause an allergic reaction.
