Color spots on the top of my soy pillar candle

by Rebecca
(Valencia, CA)

I use the Ecosoya pillar blend wax. Whenever I make specifically lavender pillar candles (using candle dye chips), and even after stirring for a really long time, there is color speckling on the very top of the candle when I release the candle from the mold.

Is there any reason why it is doing this? This never happens when I am making any other fragrance candle. I am using lavender essential oil for the fragrance.

Dye CHips NEW

Thanks, but liquid dye is not an option. What I figured that it was the chips not dissolving (I ran into this problem with the color flakes too) in the wax mixture. So in a beaker over direct heat, I melted the color in with the fragrance oil. Then I added the "colored fragrance" to the wax base.
