Botanical Name and Characteristics

Salvia sclarea

Clary sage grows about three feet tall with soft, dusty green leaves. It has lacy pink, white or blue flowers, depending on the variety.

The essential oil is extracted by steam distillation from the flowering tops and the leaves.

Sweet, earthy, floral herbaceous scent.

Non-toxic, non-sensitizing. Do not use during pregnancy or if you have epilepsy. Can be stupefying in large amounts.
