Hello! I love your website, this is what I was looking for!

I was reading your recipes for Lotions and I found an ingredient that I can´t find: grapefruit seed extract, can you tell me which other product can replace it?

Try Rosemary Extract

Thanks for taking the time to share your question.

Grapefruit seed extract is pretty important because it acts as a preservative and keeps mold from growing in the lotion. So... you have a couple of choices.

1. Make a small batch and use it up very quickly, making extra sure that all your equipment (and your bottle) is sterilized with boiling water. Also, double the Vitamin E.

2. Look for Rosemary Extract to use instead of the Grapefruit Seed extract (it does the same job.)

You might need to buy online if you can't find the supplies locally (Mountain Rose has it in their bulk miscellaneous ingredients section.) If that's not an option, then go with Plan #1 and use the lotion up quickly. Luckily, the essential oils also fight bacteria, so that should help it last longer. You could also keep it in a cool, dark place.
