Have you ever heard of a case of shingles resulting from the use of essential oils?A:
Shingles is caused by a virus - the same one that causes chickenpox - not by essential oils. The virus lies dormant in your nervous system until it's activated by stress, an immune deficiency or disease.
In fact, you can use essential oils to help with shingles. Here's the best essential oils for shingles:Tea Tree, Eucalyptus, Lavender, Lemon, Geranium
Blend 10 drops each Tea Tree, Lavender and Lemon in 2 tablespoons vegetable oil. Gently rub into the affected areas and the bottoms of the feet (carries the oils to where they're needed).
If a rub is too uncomfortable, put the same essential oils into 1/2 cup of distilled water in a fine-mist spray bottle and spritz onto the affected areas.
I got this info from my all-time favorite aromatherapy bible, Modern Essentials: a Contemporary Guide to the Therapeutic Use of Essential Oils
. Love that book - if you want to know what oils work for your health problems, this is the book to use!
Hope that helps :)
