Brain Booster Essential Oil Blend

by Pam

Q: I want to blend Sandalwood (Santalum album), Cedarwood (Cedrus atlantica), Melissa (Melissa officinalis), Frankincense (Boswellia carteri), Blue Cypress (Callitris intratropica), Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia), and Helichrysum (Helichrysum italicum)... but I'm not sure how much of each to add.

I want to use this blend for a child diagnosed with Autism, ADHD, and Asthma. Does anyone have any idea how much of each I should use to make a blend?

A: How about this...

1/3 cup grapeseed or fractionated coconut oil
4 drops Frankincense
3 drops Lavender
4 drops Melissa
4 drops Sandalwood
3 drops Helichrysum
2 drops Blue Cypress
2 drops Cedarwood

I think those proportions should work, but feel free to mess around with it. It's hard to get it wrong. Just add more carrier oil if it gets too intense.

It really depends on the child - if they hate the smell, don't force the blend on them or they'll associate the scent with a bad experience and forever refuse to try essential oils.

I find that applying the oils to their feet, if they'll let you, is a good location. It's not overpowering and it gets the oils into their system very quickly.

Good luck!
