Bergamot Essential OilHappy, relaxing, upliftingBergamot essential oil is the "happy" oil!
Botanical Name and CharacteristicsCitrus bergamiaThe bergamot tree grows up to 15 feet (4 meters) high and has smooth leaves and star-shaped flowers, with pear-shaped citrus fruit that are like a cross between an orange and a grapefruit. Bergamot essential oil is extracted from the peel. The essential oil has a fruity, sweet, warm, spicy, floral citrus scent.
Therapeutic Action
BlendingBergamot's medium-strength middle note blends well with black pepper, clary sage, cypress, frankincense, geranium, jasmine, lavender, mandarin, nutmeg, orange, rosemary, sandalwood, vetiver and ylang ylang.
CautionsPhoto-toxic: Can cause sunburn after skin application. Do not use before sun (or tanning bed) exposure. Avoid during pregnancy. May irritate dry skin.Bergamot oil is one of the quicker essential oils to go rancid, so buy in small quantities and store it in a cool, dark place.
