Homemade Bath Salts Recipe

Sweet stress relief: a relaxing rose-scented recipe for bath salts

Escape to a garden of summer roses with this sweetly scented homemade bath salts recipe.

Calming, relaxing and sensuous, its delightful scent takes you away from it all - especially if you lock the door!

Ylang ylang and palmarosa essential oils lift your mood and promote feelings of well-being, while rose and patchouli calm and balance your system. Vetiver is grounding and relaxing.

Homemade bath products like this recipe for making bath salts are excellent for day-to-day stress, depression and grief, as well as PMS and menopause.

Skincare Bonus

This bath salts recipe has the added benefit of soothing and repairing your skin. Palmarosa and rose are especially good for eczema and psoriasis. Use Dead Sea or Himalayan pink salt to alleviate skin conditions - they're the most nourishing.

Tip: For an extra skincare boost, add a tablespoon of your favorite carrier oil.

Relaxing Rose Bath Salts Recipe

Ingredients

3 cups Himalayan Salt or Dead Sea Salt

1/2 cup Baking Soda

6 drops Palmarosa essential oil

4 drops Rose essential oil

4 drops Geranium essential oil

1 drop Vetiver essential oil OR 2 drops Patchouli

1 drop Ylang Ylang essential oil

Optional: 10 drops red food coloring

Directions

  1. Mix salt and baking soda together in a bowl using a metal spoon (a wooden or plastic spoon will absorb the essential oils and be ruined.)

  2. Drop in the essential oils and food coloring, placing each drop in its own little spot on top of the salt. Stir until thoroughly mixed.

  3. Store your essential oil bath salts in a dark glass or PET plastic jar. Let cure at least 24 hours before using.

If rose essential oil is too costly, you can leave it out - the recipe will still smell good (just not quite AS good!)

Where to Buy Bath Salt Recipe Ingredients

I like Mountain Rose Herbs because they're ethical and sustainable, with lots of quality choices at good prices. I also like that they're a one-stop-shop for all my basic ingredients.

After some experimentation and comparison, I switched my oils to doTerra because I found they work better. They cost more than some other brands, but that's because the quality is higher. There's no fillers or substitutes to drop the cost of making them.

You can shop retail by clicking doTerra's Shop button at the top. Or click Join & Save to become a wholesale customer and get 25% discount. Message me if you want more details on how to maximize your savings.

For the best variety of any online store ever, browse Amazon. They have every brand you can imagine, and a wide range of prices.

Please remember - you get what you pay for, especially with essential oils. If a bottle of oil only costs a couple of dollars, it's only going to be worth a couple of dollars. There are no laws enforcing purity so you have to trust the supplier. Buy the best oils you can afford.

Here's how I think of it... For budget, choose Mountain Rose. For quality, choose doTerra. For variety, choose Amazon.
